“I Killed My Wife for You”: Bengaluru Doctor’s Haunting Messages to Women After Wife’s Murder

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a shocking revelation, Bengaluru police have discovered that Dr Mahendra Reddy G S, a general surgeon at Victoria Hospital, allegedly sent a message saying “I killed my wife for you” to several women weeks after murdering his wife, dermatologist Dr Kruthika M Reddy. Investigators say the disturbing message was sent through the PhonePe payment app, exploiting the transaction note section to bypass communication blocks.

Cryptic Messages Unearthed During Probe

According to police, at least four to five women, including a medical professional who had earlier rejected Mahendra’s marriage proposal, received the chilling message. These revelations came to light after forensic experts retrieved data from his seized mobile phone and laptop, which were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for digital analysis. Investigators believe Mahendra was attempting to rekindle old relationships shortly after his wife’s death, suggesting a psychologically unstable mindset.

Murder Disguised as Medical Treatment

The case dates back to April 2025, when Kruthika, aged 29, collapsed at her father’s home in Marathahalli. She had been staying there due to persistent health issues. Mahendra reportedly visited her on two occasions and administered intravenous injections, claiming they were part of her treatment plan. When she was declared dead at a nearby hospital, the incident initially appeared natural, leading police to file an Unnatural Death Report (UDR).

However, six months later, the FSL toxicology report revealed the presence of Propofol, a powerful anaesthetic restricted to operation theatres, in multiple organs. This finding confirmed that Kruthika had been administered the drug in lethal doses, leading investigators to reclassify the case as murder under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

Arrest and Investigation

Following the forensic confirmation, Mahendra was arrested on October 14, 2025, from Manipal in Udupi district, where he had been working after the incident. Police suspect that he used his medical expertise to obtain Propofol illegally and carried out the murder under the guise of treatment. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield) K Parashurama confirmed that Mahendra’s digital trail, including the PhonePe messages, has been verified, though further details remain confidential due to the ongoing investigation.

Troubled Past and Family Background

Investigators have also uncovered troubling details about Mahendra’s background. His twin brother, Dr Nagendra Reddy G S, had previously faced multiple cheating and fraud cases in 2018, while Mahendra and another brother, Raghava Reddy G S, were co-accused in a 2023 criminal intimidation case. Kruthika’s family alleged that these facts were concealed during marriage negotiations, adding another layer of deceit to the tragic saga.

A Case That Shook Bengaluru’s Medical Fraternity

The revelation that Mahendra attempted to contact women with a confession-like message after the alleged murder has stunned both the medical community and the public. Investigators continue to piece together evidence to understand Mahendra’s motives, from his misuse of medical knowledge to the disturbing psychological behaviour displayed in the aftermath of the crime.
