In a horrifying case of domestic violence, a 24-year-old man in Lucknow’s Dasouli village brutally murdered his seven-month pregnant wife, Neelam (22), following a heated argument at their rented home. The accused, Ankur Lodhi, used a baanka (a sharp-edged weapon) to attack her, severing her left wrist and right arm near the elbow, killing her instantly.

The incident occurred shortly after a community feast (bhandara) organized by their landlord on the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja. Ankur was seen distributing food until 4:30 PM, before returning to his home where the tragic events unfolded.

Hearing Neelam’s screams, Ankur’s mother, Phoolmati, tried to intervene but was also attacked and injured. Nearby residents rushed in upon hearing the commotion, overpowered Ankur, and handed him over to the police. He has been arrested, and a murder case has been registered.

Man Strangles Pregnant Wife in Telangana

In a similarly shocking incident in Telangana’s Medchal-Malkajgiri district, police arrested 27-year-old bike taxi driver Samala Mahender Reddy for murdering his five-month pregnant wife, B Swathi (21), and chopping her body into pieces.

The couple, who married in January 2024 against their families’ wishes, had been living in Boduppal. Their marriage was marked by frequent quarrels and mistrust. In April 2024, Swathi had filed a domestic violence and dowry harassment complaint, which was later settled by local elders.

According to the police, after Swathi informed Mahender she planned to visit her parents in Vikarabad for a medical check-up, an argument broke out. On August 23, Mahender strangled her, then used an axe to dismember the body. He disposed of the limbs and head in the Musi River and kept the torso hidden in their room.

Mahender has been charged under relevant sections of the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), equivalent to former IPC Sections 302 and 201.
