A shocking discovery at a meat shop in Krishnanagar Market of Gangasagar has triggered panic among locals and set off a police investigation. A human skull was allegedly found inside a bag handed over by the shopkeeper, raising serious questions about how it ended up there.

According to local sources, Shatrughna Das, a resident of the area, was passing by the shop when the shopkeeper, Ayub Ali Sheikh, handed him a bag. Assuming it contained meat meant for delivery, Das did not suspect anything unusual. However, upon opening the bag, he was stunned to find a human skull inside. The discovery quickly created a stir in the market, drawing a large crowd and prompting immediate police intervention.

Police begin investigation

Police from Sagar Police Station rushed to the spot after being informed and recovered the skull. It has been sent to Kakdwip morgue for post-mortem and forensic examination.

Namkhana SDPO Suman Kanti Ghosh confirmed that the shopkeeper has been detained for questioning. “The investigation is still in its initial stages; all aspects are being examined,” he said.

Shopkeeper’s claim under scrutiny

During questioning, Ayub Ali Sheikh reportedly claimed that his minor son had found the skull while fishing in a nearby canal. Investigators are now verifying this statement and examining the canal area to trace the origin of the skull.
Police are also interrogating individuals connected to the incident to establish how the skull was brought to the shop and placed in the bag.

Authorities are awaiting forensic reports to determine whether the skull is indeed human, its age, and whether it is linked to any missing person or criminal activity. Officials say a clearer picture will emerge only after detailed examination.

Political angle adds speculation

The incident has also stirred discussions in political circles, with some locals claiming that the shopkeeper is associated with the Trinamool Congress. However, police have not confirmed any political link and stated that the investigation is being conducted without bias.

With several unanswered questions surrounding the case, the meat shop remains at the center of a growing mystery. Police continue their probe to uncover how the skull reached the shop and whether any foul play is involved.
