Himachal Pradesh to build Asia’s Longest Zipline in Dhauladhar valley for Tourists

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Himachal Pradesh government has announced a significant venture aimed at enhancing tourism in the region by constructing Asia’s longest zipline at Naddi, situated in the scenic Dhauladhar valley of Kangra district. This ambitious project, extending over 4.3 kilometers, is estimated to cost approximately Rs. 7.41 crore and is described as a landmark initiative in adventure tourism. The zipline will consist of four stations: Gallu as the starting point, followed by Ball village, Naddi, and finally, Maggie Point Khad, where the ride will end. Visitors will be able to savor the stunning views of the Dhauladhar mountain range while experiencing an exhilarating ride.

Timeline and Location

The construction of this zipline is slated for completion within 36 months. It will be developed at the popular Naddi View Point in Dharamshala, a location celebrated for its panoramic landscape and scenic vistas. This undertaking is expected to substantially improve the tourism infrastructure of the area, draw in adventure seekers, and generate employment opportunities, thereby contributing positively to the local economy.

Government’s Commitment to Tourism

The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to the Kangra district by designating it as the ‘Tourism Capital’. Several initiatives are underway to bolster the region’s tourism infrastructure and promote sustainable tourism practices. These efforts aim to not only attract tourists but also ensure that the natural beauty of the Dhauladhar valley is preserved for future generations.

Healthcare Modernization Initiative

In addition to tourism development, the Himachal Pradesh government is also focused on enhancing healthcare services throughout the state. The government has approved an allocation of Rs. 1,617 crore as the first phase of a comprehensive Rs. 3,000 crore health modernization initiative. This plan aims to upgrade infrastructure in Government Medical Colleges, Super Specialty Centres, and Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans, significantly improving health services.

Implementation and Future Plans

The healthcare modernization initiative is scheduled to be implemented from April 1, 2026, to April 30, 2031. Under this project, healthcare institutions will be equipped with advanced diagnostic equipment, simulation-based medical training tools, AI-enabled handheld X-ray devices, and integrated digital health platforms. These enhancements are designed to ensure timely access to specialized care, optimize patient outcomes, and bolster emergency response capabilities in rural and remote communities.

Focus on Accessibility and Equity

This comprehensive health initiative aims to promote gender-equitable and climate-resilient healthcare solutions, positioning Himachal Pradesh as a leader in accessible and technology-driven public health modernization. Through these efforts, the government seeks to not only improve healthcare accessibility but also fortify the overall well-being of its residents.
