Prachi Kumawat, 9, a student of Class 4, died due to a heart attack at her school while she was opening her lunch box. The principal of Adarsh Vidya Mandir in Danta, Sikar confirmed that she collapsed on the ground and her lunchbox fell. “The staff and I were on the ground floor; we rushed her to the hospital. It’s common for us to see students collapse, but her case seemed different, so we immediately rushed her to the Community Health Centre (CHC), which is 500 metres from the school. Upon treatment, she seemed to recover, but she suffered another heart attack,” he said.
He further shared that the CHC staff immediately referred her to a hospital in Sikar, and she was sent in an ambulance around 12:15 pm. News of her death came around 1:30 pm. Her parents were informed; her father works in a private office in Gujarat.
Speaking with teary eyes, the principal said, “This is shocking. She was just a child—so cheerful and always smiling.”
During a conversation, Dr. R. K. Jangid, who was treating Prachi at Danta CHC, said, “Prima facie, Prachi had a minor heart attack and later suffered multiple attacks. While the postmortem is yet to be done, we took measures for heart attack and they slightly improved her condition. We treated her with oxygen and cardiac resuscitation. She was then referred to Shri Kalyan Government Hospital in Sikar.”
Confirming that there was no known history of heart disease, Dr. Jangid said it was a rare case, and hence difficult to confirm the heart attack, but all precautions were taken.
