Hansika Singh – From Kicks to Comebacks

The CSR Journal Magazine

When Hansika Singh first stepped onto a Taekwondo mat in 2010, she wasn’t chasing medals or glory. She was just a girl with an unusual gift for acrobatics—spotted by a coach who saw potential where she hadn’t even looked yet. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary.

In just three months of training, Hansika went from complete novice to state-level gold medallist. It was a whirlwind—one moment she was learning how to position her stance, the next she was standing on the podium.

That was only the beginning. Over the years, she became a dominant force in Indian Taekwondo, winning 15 national titles and losing only once in her entire career. Her arsenal of 20 unique kicks became her signature, and she didn’t shy away from open competitions—often defeating male opponents and proving that skill knows no gender.

Her journey reached the international stage in 2016, when she proudly wore the Indian flag on her uniform and brought home a silver medal from Kazakhstan. For many, that would have been the peak. For Hansika, it was a stepping stone—until life threw its hardest punch.

A severe injury struck without warning, forcing her out of the sport she had dedicated her life to. The physical pain was nothing compared to the emotional toll. “It felt like my entire identity had been ripped away,” she later shared. The months that followed were filled with uncertainty, self-doubt, and a quiet battle with depression.

But champions aren’t defined by how they win—they’re defined by how they rise after they fall. Hansika chose to rise. She rebuilt her strength, not just in her body but in her mind. Today, she’s a fitness mentor, guiding others to discover their own power. She’s also stepped into modelling, carrying herself with the same poise and discipline she once took into the ring.

For young athletes, Hansika isn’t just a role model—she’s living proof that life after a setback can be even more powerful than the dream you first started chasing. Her story reminds us that while kicks can win matches, it’s the comebacks that win hearts.
