Gandhinagar, Gujarat: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated a fleet of 28 advanced electric buses for the Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS), aiming to enhance public transport in the city on Friday, February 13. This initiative is part of a larger plan to integrate a total of 225 electric buses into the AMTS network, facilitating more efficient and environmentally sustainable travel options for citizens. The implementation of these electric buses is expected to result in a significant reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 75,000 kilograms annually.

The tendering process was completed in six months, with the buses delivered within a mere three-month timeframe. The electric buses are designed with state-of-the-art safety features, including mandatory cybersecurity protocols and safety audits, which are being instituted for the first time in India. Further enhancing passenger safety, each bus is equipped with a Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS).
