The CSR Journal Magazine

Joginapally Santosh Kumar, former Rajya Sabha MP and founder of the Green India Challenge, has been nominated for the Global Green Icon Award at the upcoming World Leaders Conclave and Awards to be held at the House of Lords in London on April 17.

The event, organised by Heylin Spark Strategics UK Ltd, will bring together global leaders, policymakers and sustainability advocates to recognise contributions in climate action, environmental protection and inclusive growth.

Recognition For Grassroots Environmental Work

Santosh Kumar’s nomination highlights the growing global recognition of India-led grassroots environmental initiatives. Through the Green India Challenge, he has driven large-scale plantation efforts and encouraged citizen participation in sustainability campaigns.

His “Hara Hai Toh Bhara Hai” movement has mobilised millions across the country, promoting tree plantation and environmentally responsible practices at the community level.

He also serves as Chairman of Igniting Minds Organisation (IMO), a non-profit inspired by the vision of former President APJ Abdul Kalam, focused on environmental awareness and sustainable development.

Focus On Community-Led Sustainability

Igniting Minds Organisation has worked with institutions, governments and local communities to expand green cover and promote sustainable living. Its approach combines awareness campaigns with on-ground action, aiming to create long-term environmental impact.

In a statement, the organisation said the nomination reflects the collective effort of citizens committed to sustainability and the continued inspiration drawn from APJ Abdul Kalam’s ideals.

Global Platform For Climate Action

The World Leaders Conclave and Awards is expected to spotlight changemakers working towards a sustainable and inclusive future. Santosh Kumar’s nomination places India’s community-driven environmental efforts on a global stage.

The Hyderabad-based organisation continues to focus on key areas such as afforestation, water conservation, climate action and environmental awareness, with the aim of building a more resilient and sustainable future.
