Billionaire industrialist and Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has set an example in philanthropy by donating Rs 10,000 crore for social causes at his younger son Jeet Adani’s wedding. Jeet Adani tied the knot with Diva Shah, daughter of renowned Mumbai-based diamond merchant Jaimin Shah.
There were speculations that the Adani empire scion’s wedding would be a lavish and extravagant affair. However, putting an end to such speculations, the wedding was hosted in a private and simple function with the participation of people close to the family. Instead, Gautam Adani chose to donate the huge amount of money for social causes.

Gautam Adani apologises after son’s wedding

Gautam Adani took to social media on Friday evening to announce the completion of the wedding ceremony referring to his daughter-in-law as “daughter Diva”. The industrialist also apologised for not being able to invite a lot of people to his son’s wedding.
“With the blessings of Almighty God, Jeet and Diva tied the sacred knot of marriage today. The wedding took place today in Ahmedabad with traditional rituals and Shubh Mangal Bhaav among loved ones. It was a small and extremely private function, so we could not invite all the well-wishers even if we wanted to, for which I apologize. I sincerely seek blessings and love from all of you for my daughter Diva and Jeet,” Gautam Adani posted on social media platform X in Hindi.

Which causes will the donation be used for

Gautam Adani had earlier announced that his son’s wedding would be conducted in a “simple and traditional way.” Staying true to his word, and also ending all rumours and speculation that Jeet Adani’s wedding would be a lavish and spectacular affair, the billionaire industrialist not only kept the wedding simple but also donated Rs 10,000 crore, which will be channelled into various social causes.
A large portion of his donation is expected to go into funding massive infrastructure initiatives in healthcare, education and skill development. These initiatives will focus on giving all sections of society access to a network of affordable world-class hospitals and medical colleges, affordable top-tier K-12 schools and advanced global skill academies with assured employability.

Jeet Adani & Diva Shah wedding: A simple affair

According to family insiders, the wedding was a simple affair, with the usual religious rituals followed by a traditional Gujarati ceremony attended only by close relatives and friends. The absence of politicians, business leaders, diplomats, bureaucrats, film stars and other celebrities were noticeable.
Jeet Adani currently serves as Director at Adani Airports, managing six international airports and overseeing the building of a seventh in Navi Mumbai. Jeet is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
