A horrific incident in the Sogariya area of Kota, Rajasthan, has led to the alleged rape and murder of a ten-year-old boy by a 16-year-old acquaintance. The incident reportedly took place when the young victim left his home at around 1 pm to play outside but failed to return by evening. Concerned family members began searching for him, and when their efforts yielded no answers, they lodged a missing person report the following day.

Police quickly formed several teams to investigate the case. They utilised technical surveillance and local intelligence to trace the boy’s whereabouts. Approximately 30 hours after his disappearance, authorities discovered the victim’s body in a forested area opposite a workshop. Reports indicate that the remains were in a disturbing state, with evidence of possible animal interference.

Investigation Leads to Arrest of Accused

Further investigations pointed towards the 16-year-old, who reportedly confessed to the crime during questioning. The police have noted that the accused, who is an eighth-grade student, had been consuming inappropriate content and believed that being a minor would shield him from severe consequences. On the day of the incident, he allegedly took his mother’s mobile phone, travelled with the victim in an auto-rickshaw, and watched explicit videos together.

The accused is claimed to have lured the victim into the nearby woods under the pretext of smoking cigarettes. Allegations indicate that the accused sexually assaulted the boy, and when the child attempted to resist, a fight ensued. During the altercation, the victim reportedly pressed a lit cigarette against the accused’s cheek, which is said to have escalated the situation.

In a fit of rage, the accused allegedly picked up a heavy stone and struck the victim’s head multiple times, leading to his immediate death. After the murder, it is claimed that the brutality continued, with the accused tying the child’s legs with a belt and dragging the body into the bushes, where further offences were committed against the corpse. He is also accused of trying to burn the victim’s face to eliminate identifying features.

Legal Proceedings and Community Response

Once the extent of the crime became clear, police collected significant evidence from the crime scene, including cigarette butts, bloodstained clothing, and hair strands. The authorities have charged the 16-year-old under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and the SC-ST Atrocities Act, along with charges of murder. The investigation continues to gather further evidence.

The case has sparked outrage within the local community, with many expressing shock and dismay at the circumstances surrounding the incident. Law enforcement officials, including Deputy Superintendent of Police Poonam Chauhan, described the acts as heinous and unthinkable. The community is now grappling with the tragic loss and seeking justice for the young victim.
