Former UP BJP MLA Sparks Outrage by Urging Hindu Men to ‘Bring Muslim Girls’

Former BJP MLA and Hindu Yuva Vahini leader Raghvendra Pratap Singh has ignited a political storm after allegedly urging Hindu men to “bring Muslim girls” during a public gathering in Dhankharpur village on October 16. The remarks, which came to light after a video circulated widely on social media on Tuesday, have drawn sharp criticism from opposition parties and women’s rights advocates.

Singh made the statements in the context of reports that two Hindu girls from the region had reportedly married Muslim men and converted to Islam. In his speech, he said, “If our two girls go there, you bring a minimum of 10 Muslim girls. I’ll organise your marriage. And I announce that I’ll arrange a job with enough salary for someone who brings them.”

He further warned, “The two who have left in the last one month… I am unable to digest this. Muslims! Listen to me. Something seriously vengeful will take place. I tell you (the Muslims) to tell the Mulla-Maulavis that something serious may happen in the coming days. The days of Akhilesh Yadav have gone. It is the rule of Yogiji. You don’t need to fear anybody.”

Ex-MLA Defends Controversial ‘Convert Muslim Girls’ Remark

Defending his comments before the media, Singh claimed that his remarks were a response to the alleged conversions. He stated, “When I first came to Dumariyaganj, it was called Mini Pakistan. In Dhankharpur, two Hindu girls were converted within a week. I said that in response, we will convert 10 Muslim girls to Hinduism.”

Opposition leaders condemned Singh’s statements. Samajwadi Party MLA Saiyada Khatoon described them as “beyond tolerance, utterly misogynistic and blatant objectification of women,” adding, “This statement is an insult to women and openly demeans them. It targets a particular religion and may be part of his political agenda, but such comments against women are truly disgraceful.”

Khatoon also accused local authorities of failing to act, saying, “A government which promotes the slogan ‘Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao’ cannot allow its leaders to insult women with such inflammatory comments. I gave a written complaint to the police, but no action was taken. The police and the administration will be responsible for any communal violence here.”

BSP Chief Condemns Singh’s Remarks

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati also denounced Singh’s remarks, calling them “shameful and objectionable.” She said, “Such a poisonous remark, which puts someone in danger, should be condemned. They are posing a danger to a civilised society and a democratic government.”

The Congress party echoed the criticism, accusing the BJP of spreading communal hatred and attempting to divide society. Meanwhile, local police confirmed that they are reviewing the video and collecting evidence before taking legal action. The BJP has not issued any official statement on Singh’s comments.
