Former Pakistan PM Sharif to Manage Heritage in Daughter’s Government

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif returns to action after getting a job in the government of his daughter, Maryam Nawaz of the Punjab province. The three-time former prime minister will now look after art heritage restoration.

Appointed as the patron-in-chief of the Lahore Authority for Heritage Revival (LAHR), Nawaz will now look after the restoration of colonial-era buildings in Lahore. The authority will be responsible for the restoration of the old city of Lahore.

Imran’s Mockery 

The jailed former premier Imran Khan’s party mocked the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and congratulated Nawaz for getting a government job. Opposition party Tehreek-e-Insaf Senior leader Shaukat Basra told reporters on Thursday, “Nawaz Sharif was living a retired life after the humiliating defeat of his party in the 2024 elections… Now Nawaz’s daughter, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam, gave him some work to do,” 

According to Basra, Nawaz Sharif returned from London in 2023 to become Prime Minister of Pakistan for the fourth time. But the military establishment chose his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif as the ‘perfect puppet’ ruler.
