‘Fingers Chopped, Wrist Slashed’: Man Brutally Stabbed in Front Of Minor Sons in Maharashtra

The CSR Journal Magazine

A deeply disturbing incident has come to light from Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city. A man was brutally attacked and killed in front of his two young sons. One aged 3 and the other 13. The murder allegedly comes over an old business rivalry.

The victim, Syed Imran Shafiq, had taken his children out on Wednesday. During this, a group of armed assailants intercepted their auto near the Silk Mill Colony, close to the railway station. According to reports, a car carrying 5–6 men stopped their vehicle and forcibly pulled out Shafiq and his children.

Victim’s Fingers Chopped, Repeatedly Stabbed

What followed was a horrifying act of violence. The attackers, armed with sharp weapons, began assaulting Shafiq as his terrified children looked on helplessly. In an attempt to defend himself, Shafiq tried to wrest the weapons away but failed. The assailants then chopped off his fingers, slashed his right wrist, and struck him multiple times on his head and neck.

After the brutal beating, the attackers stabbed him repeatedly and left him to die under a nearby foot overbridge. Passersby later alerted the authorities, and the police launched an immediate investigation.

Old Business Rivalry Suspected

Initial investigations suggest that the attack was linked to a long-standing dispute related to a gas business. Within just nine hours of the incident, police arrested three individuals in connection with the crime.

The prime suspect, Mujeeb Don, is a known history-sheeter with multiple cases against him. Alongside him, the police also arrested his brother Saddam Hussain Moinuddin and his brother-in-law Sheikh Irfan Sheikh Suleman.

Another similar incident

In a separate incident from earlier, a 60-year-old man allegedly smothered his estranged wife to death with a pillow in a fit of rage in Mumbai’s Powai. The victim, 56-year-old Shalini Devi, was a flight attendant-turned-lawyer, who had been living separately from her husband Rajiv Chandrabhan Lala. Their son resides in the United States.

“During the investigation, it has been revealed that her husband, Rajive Chandrabhan Lala, 60, had forcefully entered the flat and assaulted her. The accused has been arrested,” the Mumbai police said, adding that a case was registered at Powai police station and further investigation is underway.

Growing Street Violence

The horrifying murder, witnessed by two innocent children, has shocked the state and raised questions about public safety and the impunity with which criminal elements operate. Authorities continue to investigate the case to uncover more details and potentially identify any additional accomplices.
