Late Tuesday, a Turkish Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft from Istanbul caused panic at Antalya Airport when smoke was detected coming from its landing gear shortly after a normal landing. According to officials, the drama unfolded as the plane was taxiing on the runway and ground crews, along with the air traffic controller, noticed the worrying sign. The controller quickly informed the flight crew, leading airline and airport emergency teams to rush to the scene without delay.
All 247 passengers and 13 crew members on board were evacuated promptly and safely using the aircraft’s emergency slides. No injuries have been reported, much to the relief of both officials and family members awaiting at the airport. Visuals of the incident circulated widely on social media, showing adults and children making their way down the deployed slides, while fire crews hurried to douse the smouldering landing gear with water.
