Dhurandhar’s Rare 100-Day Theatre Run Fuels Buzz for ‘The Revenge’ Release

The CSR Journal Magazine

The anticipation for “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” is reaching a peak as its release date approaches on March 19. In preparation for this, Jio Studios is organizing paid previews on March 18, starting from 5:00 PM. The response to these ticket sales has been unprecedented, with screenings selling out across the nation despite higher ticket prices.

Additionally, beginning March 12, Jio Studios decided to increase the number of screenings for the first part of “Dhurandhar” and has re-released it in various cinemas where it had previously concluded its run.

A Significant Achievement in Post-Covid Cinema

“Dhurandhar” Part 1, which premiered on December 5, 2025, has maintained a presence in multiple theatres, marking its 99th day in cinemas today and poised to reach a remarkable 100-day run tomorrow, March 14. Achieving such longevity in theatrical releases has become increasingly uncommon in recent years, making “Dhurandhar” a standout example of post-Covid cinema with an extended theatrical journey.

Continuous Appreciation Despite Online Availability

Approximately six weeks ago, “Dhurandhar” Part 1 became available on Netflix. Typically, films experience a decline in cinema attendance once they are launched on streaming platforms. However, the first part of “Dhurandhar” has continued to attract audiences in select theatres, which facilitated its ongoing screening rather than discontinuation.

Recently, it has been re-released in several theatres worldwide, providing viewers an opportunity to revisit the film before the sequel’s debut next week. As of March 12, “Dhurandhar” Part 1 is running in over 1,000 screens globally, with more than 1,250 showings scheduled.

An Unprecedented Theatre Release

The first installment is confirmed to continue in theatres until the afternoon of March 18, right before “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” takes over. This situation marks a unique instance where a film remains in cinemas until the debut of its sequel.
