Delhi Woman Kills Live-in Partner with Ex-Lover’s Help, Sets Flat Ablaze to Erase Evidence

The CSR Journal Magazine

Delhi Police have solved the mysterious death of 32-year-old UPSC aspirant Ramkesh Meena. Ramkesh’s charred body was recovered from his burnt apartment in Gandhi Vihar earlier this month. What initially appeared to be a tragic accident caused by an air-conditioner blast. The incident turned out to be a calculated murder motivated by revenge and humiliation.

Police Arrest 3 After Weeks of Investigation

Following an intensive investigation, police arrested Amrita Chauhan (21), Meena’s live-in partner, her former boyfriend Sumit Kashyap (27), and their associate Sandeep Kumar (29), all residents of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, Amrita, a B.Sc. Forensic Science student, had been living with Meena since May. According to police, she grew enraged after discovering that Meena had secretly recorded her private videos and refused to delete them despite repeated requests.

Plot Fueled by Revenge

Humiliated and furious, Amrita sought help from her ex-boyfriend Sumit, who, along with friend Sandeep, devised a plan to “teach Meena a lesson.” On the night of October 5-6, the trio travelled from Moradabad to Delhi and entered Meena’s fourth-floor flat.

CCTV footage later revealed two masked men and a woman entering the building, followed by an explosion around 2:57 a.m. The footage raised suspicions after it showed the trio leaving moments before the blast.

Murder, Fire and Cover-Up

According to DCP (North) Raja Banthia, the trio strangled Meena and poured ghee, oil, and alcohol on his body before opening the gas cylinder valve to cause an explosion, hoping to pass it off as an accident.

Sumit, who worked as an LPG distributor, used his knowledge to stage the blast. Before fleeing, they locked the flat from inside through a small opening in the gate and escaped with Meena’s laptop, hard disk, and other valuables to destroy evidence.

How Police Cracked The Case

Reports suggests that, Amrita’s mobile location data and call records placed her near the scene during the incident, confirming her involvement. Her forensic background and interest in crime series, police said, helped her meticulously plan the crime.

Amrita was arrested on October 18, followed by Sumit and Sandeep on October 21 and 23. During interrogation, all three confessed to their roles. Police have registered cases under sections related to murder, criminal conspiracy, and destruction of evidence.

All accused remain in custody as the investigation continues.
