The Delhi Traffic Police has announced that commuters should plan their routes ahead of time and avoid areas close to Jantar Mantar, where traffic curbs and regulated movement will be implemented due to an Opposition protest. This demonstration is aimed at demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The protest, organised by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Youth Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and various student unions, is centred on allegations regarding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and concerns over the widespread deletion of voter names.

Details of Traffic Diversions

According to the traffic advisory, vehicles travelling from Connaught Place towards Patel Chowk will encounter diversions along alternative routes. Additionally, traffic heading from Patel Chowk towards the General Post Office (GPO) will be regulated or redirected at certain points to manage congestion effectively.

Restrictions will also apply to traffic on Tolstoy Marg, with measures in place to regulate or redirect movement. Furthermore, access to Jantar Mantar Road will be limited, and drivers are being urged to avoid this area, along with nearby roads such as Parliament Street and Ashoka Road.

The advisory emphasised the possibility of barricades and traffic diversions being established, warning motorists to anticipate increased travel times in the vicinity. Those travelling towards Connaught Place, Patel Chowk, GPO, Parliament Street, and other central locations are encouraged to consider alternative routes and allow extra time for their journeys.

Regulatory Measures and Public Compliance

The Delhi Traffic Police warned that stopping or parking vehicles in regulated areas is prohibited, as such actions could further hinder traffic flow. The advisory highlighted that Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita remains in effect in the specified areas as per instructions from the relevant authorities.

Authorities have called upon the public to adhere to instructions provided by law enforcement and personnel stationed in affected locations. The implementation of these measures aims to facilitate a smoother traffic experience during the protest and ensure public safety.
