Government school teachers in Delhi assigned as booth-level officers (BLOs) for election duties during school vacations will qualify for special earned leave or compensatory leave. The Directorate of Education has issued a circular detailing these leave benefits in response to requests from teachers’ associations advocating for recognition of their election-related work. This initiative underscores the importance of the contributions made by educators during significant civic duties.

According to the circular, the eligible teachers will benefit from either special earned leave or compensatory leave during periods marked by public holidays and school breaks. This decision aims to acknowledge the additional responsibilities undertaken by teachers outside their regular duties. The circular was communicated following discussions driven by concerns raised by teachers regarding their workload during elections.

The move reflects an effort by the Delhi government to ensure that educators are afforded due recognition and compensation for their efforts in supporting the electoral process. Compensation Structure for Booth-Level Officers

The circular also delineates the remuneration framework for BLOs and their supervisors.
