Recent military actions have resulted in significant casualties, with six individuals confirmed dead in Qom. Local media indicated that airstrikes targeted three residential buildings in the city on Friday. The deputy governor of Qom reported to Fars News Agency that the exact number of injuries remains unknown. In Tehran, explosions were noted as the Israeli military executed operations aimed at key Iranian infrastructures.

Damaging Attacks and Rising Toll

Reports indicated further assaults across Iran, including a missile strike on a residential complex in Urmia during the night. Hamed Saffari, the director-general of crisis management for West Azerbaijan province, confirmed the complete destruction of four buildings, resulting in numerous casualties. According to Iran’s Deputy Health Minister Ali Jafarian, the ongoing conflict has claimed 1,937 lives and left nearly 25,000 injured, with the deceased count including 240 women and 212 children.

Continued Violence and Humanitarian Concerns

Air raids have also impacted areas in Karaj and Isfahan’s industrial sector. Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported a persistent lack of any movement towards de-escalation. The Norwegian Refugee Council expressed growing concerns about the psychological state of the Iranian populace, noting widespread exhaustion and trauma. Jan Egeland, the council’s head, highlighted the desperate circumstances of many families, emphasizing the profound toll the war has taken on civilians.

Ceasefire Negotiations and Diplomatic Efforts

Iran’s government has articulated specific preconditions for ceasefire negotiations, which include an end to ongoing assassination attempts against its leadership, compensation for damages, and mechanisms to prevent future conflicts. The Iranian administration reiterated its claim over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, asserting its right to control access to this essential maritime passage, which has international implications for fuel supplies.

International Reactions and Ongoing Regional Tensions

The United Nations Security Council has scheduled a closed meeting concerning the situation in Iran. The meeting was organized under the US presidency of the Security Council. Meanwhile, neighboring Gulf states are feeling the repercussions of the ongoing conflict, with Kuwait’s National Guard reporting the interception of two drones aimed at vital infrastructures. Additionally, the United Arab Emirates confirmed that air defense systems were activated in response to potential missile threats.

Israeli Operations and Regional Escalation

In conjunction with the conflict in Iran, Israel is continuing its military operations in Lebanon. On Friday, the Israeli military instructed residents of the southern Lebanese village of Sajd to evacuate immediately, citing planned aggressive actions by Israeli forces. Analysts noted that achieving specific military objectives without a political resolution appears unlikely, as Israeli defense officials acknowledge the complexities of dealing with groups such as Hezbollah through military means alone.
