The CSR Journal Magazine

The Delhi Police are finalising security arrangements as the city prepares for the BRICS Summit, which is set to take place at Bharat Mandapam from September 11 to 13. Extensive preparations have been in progress for several months, with visible changes throughout the New Delhi district, including the installation of BRICS-themed banners and posters across key locations.

Key areas such as Connaught Place and Khan Market have also seen enhanced lighting measures implemented for improved visibility at night. These initiatives aim to create a welcoming atmosphere while bolstering security prior to this significant international conference.

Surveillance Initiatives for Enhanced Security

As part of the comprehensive security measures, approximately 500 CCTV cameras have been strategically deployed across the vicinity to guarantee continuous monitoring during the summit. A spokesperson from the security team indicated that these arrangements fully cover all routes in the area. The system is designed to ensure a rapid response to any suspicious activities, enabling authorities to take swift action when necessary.

Of the installed cameras, certain units are outfitted with number plate recognition technology, enhancing the ability to manage vehicular movements effectively. This advanced surveillance system aims to contribute to the overall security framework, ensuring that all attendees can safely participate in the summit.

In addition to the surveillance technology, the police have established multi-layered security protocols that include traffic management systems and a quick response strategy to maintain the flow of delegates and visitors throughout the event. This level of preparedness reflects the importance of the summit in the international arena.

Leadership Emphasises Professionalism and Preparedness

The Delhi Police Commissioner led a crucial briefing session, wherein Special Commissioners of Police and venue-in-charge officials discussed the main aspects and operational specifics of the security strategies in place. Officials from the police department have underscored the importance of the summit, noting that the events will be scrutinised on a global scale.

During the briefing, the Commissioner highlighted the necessity for all police personnel to display the highest levels of professionalism, discipline, politeness, and courtesy throughout the summit. The emphasis was placed on individual accountability to ensure all responsibilities are met without error, maintaining the integrity of the Delhi Police.

Moreover, the leadership reiterated that the conduct during the BRICS Summit is not just a representation of the police force, but also reflects national pride. The Commissioner expressed confidence that the Delhi Police, having successfully managed several significant events in the past, will uphold these standards throughout the duration of the summit.

In closing, the police leadership reassured that there will be no opportunity for criticism regarding the performance of the Delhi Police during the BRICS Summit, emphasising their commitment to professionalism, discipline, and dedication during this high-profile event.
