PwC India Foundation is supporting Project Nanhi Kali to empower 500 underprivileged girl children in Darjeeling by ensuring access to quality education and promoting concept-based learning. Project Nanhi Kali is jointly managed by K.C. Mahindra Education Trust and Naandi Foundation.
Through this CSR initiative, PwC will be reaching out to students from Standard 1 to Standard 5, most of whom are first generation learners in their families. The project aims to curtail the high dropout rate prevalent amongst school girls in India, while ensuring an enabling ecosystem for the girls to attend school with dignity and attain quality education.
Jaivir Singh, Vice President, PwC India Foundation said, “Educating the girl child is an important step towards the creation of a fit for future and a truly inclusive society. We’re proud to be associated with Nanhi Kali and hope that this initiative will help reduce school dropout rates among girl students and encourage them to continue their education.” Sheetal Mehta, Executive Director & Trustee, K.C. Mahindra Education Trust said, “At Project Nanhi Kali, our aim is to enable underprivileged girls to complete 10 years of schooling with dignity. We are grateful to PwC India Foundation for partnering with us to support education of 500 Nanhi Kalis in Darjeeling. Through this partnership, we will have the opportunity to provide quality education and create a safe ecosystem for underprivileged girls in Darjeeling.”
