The CSR Journal Magazine

Kutch, India: Unifeeder has partnered with VisionSpring Foundation to launch a three-month long vision screening programme for commercial vehicle drivers and allied transport workers in the Kutch District of Gujarat, to help enhance road safety.

The vision screening programme aims to examine approximately 9,000 drivers and allied transport workers to help detect general vision impairments and provide a pair of free corrective glasses based on their diagnosis. In case of suspected eye conditions such as cataracts or glaucoma, they will be referred to local charitable or government eye care centres for necessary treatment.

Unifeeder is part of DP World, a world leader in logistics management services, which operates in 79 countries and is a long-term investor in local communities.

“Transport workers are the backbone of our logistics operations, and protecting their eyesight is vital for maintaining safety and productivity on the road.” said Mr. CM Muraleedharan, Regional Director – India, Unifeeder. “We are proud to partner with VisionSpring Foundation to help drivers see clearly, supporting both their safety on the road and the stability of their careers.”

Kisna Yadav, Chief Legal Officer, Unifeeder, added, “Prioritising the eye health of transport workers not only safeguards their wellbeing but also drives greater safety and efficiency across the supply chain. This initiative reflects our dedication to creating lasting social impact and advancing sustainable development goals.”

The vision screening programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. Sushil Kumar Singh, Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority and Guest of Honour, Mr. Mahesh H Puj, President, The Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce & Industry along with representatives from Unifeeder and VisionSpring Foundation. It is the latest of several initiatives that are part of Unifeeder’s Corporate Social Responsibility healthcare commitment.

Over 2 million commercial vehicle drivers and allied transport workers have benefitted from the programme to date globally, enabling them to drive more safely and confidently.

The promising start to the programme marks Unifeeder and VisionSpring Foundation’s shared commitment to creating safer roads and healthier communities by providing accessible and preventive eye care, to ultimately help unlock greater potential for thousands of transport workers vital to India’s economy.
