CSR News: HDB Financial Services launches ‘Aarthik Aarogyam Kendra’ to strengthen financial literacy of micro-entrepreneurs across cities

The CSR Journal Magazine

HDB Financial Services (HDBFS) has launched Aarthik Aarogyam Kendra, a comprehensive financial literacy and business hygiene initiative aimed at empowering nano and micro-entrepreneurs across multiple cities in India. The initiative is being implemented in partnership with Saath Charitable Trust in Ahmedabad, Surat, and Jaipur, and with the Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC) in Delhi.

Rolled out under HDB Financial Services’ CSR programme, Aarthik Aarogyam Kendra seeks to strengthen financial knowledge, promote formalisation, and enhance long-term sustainability of self-employed individuals and small business owners operating in urban and peri-urban areas. The initiative combines structured training, one-on-one financial counselling, and on-ground handholding to enable entrepreneurs to make informed financial decisions and integrate into the formal economy.

Across locations, the programme focuses on critical aspects such as basic accounting and bookkeeping, working capital management, digital payments, credit awareness, insurance, GST compliance, and access to relevant government schemes. Entrepreneurs are supported through small-batch workshops, personalised mentoring, and post-training assistance for registrations such as GST, Udyam, and Shop Act, as well as adoption of digital payment systems and linkage to government credit and social security schemes.

Speaking on the initiative, Ashish Ghatnekar, Chief People & Operations, HDB Financial Services, said, “Micro and nano entrepreneurs play a vital role in India’s local economies, yet many continue to remain outside the formal financial ecosystem due to gaps in awareness and access. Through Aarthik Aarogyam Kendra, we aim to bridge this gap by equipping entrepreneurs with essential financial knowledge, practical tools, and confidence to formalise and grow sustainably. By partnering with credible grassroots organisations, we are able to deliver meaningful, last-mile impact across diverse urban clusters.”
