CSR: Casio India Company donates scientific calculators to underprivileged children in government schools of Assam

Assam, India: Casio India Company, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of consumer electronics in partnership with the Government of Assam commenced the latest edition of its CSR program ‘Gyan Ki Roshni’ for this financial year. This initiative supports underprivileged government school children by providing them with free Casio scientific calculators for better understanding of mathematics and scientific calculations.
Casio’s ‘Gyan Ki Roshni’ initiativeaims to increase scientific curiosity by providing resources to students who lack access to the requisite technologyto study science-based courses. . 200 schools from across the state will receive 4000 Casio Classwiz scientific calculators as part of this initiative benefitting more than 1 lakh students. The Gyaan ki Roshni initiative aims to cover children coming from all the communities of Assam like Bodo, Kachari, Krabi, Miri, etc.
The calculator distribution event was held in presence of the respected Hon’ble Minister of Education, Government of Assam, Dr. RanojPegu, Hon’ble Adviser to the Government of Assam, Education Department Prof. (Dr.) Nani Gopal Mahanta, Managing Director, Casio India Co. Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Hideki Imai, Mission Director of SamagraSiksha Abhiyan, Assam Dr. Om Prakash, Director of Secondary Education, Government of Assam, Ms. Mamata Hojai and many other dignitaries.
Every year Casio introduces new initiatives under its CSR program to support the underprivileged section of the society. In 2021, under ‘Gyan Ki Roshni’ CSR initiative, the company donated around 300 projectors to set up digital connectivity across underprivileged and backward communities of Delhi, Assam & Tripura.
Speaking about this initiative, Mr. Hideki Imai, Managing Director, Casio India said “Casio is committed to boosting scientific curiosity among students as part of its vision for India’s future and we want to do our best to ensure that students from under-privileged backgrounds are not left behind. The purpose of the ‘Gyan Ki Roshni’ initiative is to reach communities and geographieso across the width of the country and equip them with technology which will spur learning. The Classwiz scientific calculators being provided to schools as part of this initiative willenable students to spend more time on understanding concepts than doing time-consuming, complex calculations thereby making them more future ready.
