The Communist Party of India (CPI) is set to organise a statewide agitation on July 27, 2026, in Kerala. Demonstrations are expected to take place outside Lok Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram and at various central government offices across district headquarters. This movement aims to express solidarity with young protesters who are demanding increased transparency and integrity in recruitment examinations.

Speaking to ANI, CPI leader G. V. S. Viswam noted that the ongoing protests have garnered significant global attention. He stated, “The agitation by the young people of India has attracted attention from people across the world. Democratic voices are supporting the demand that recruitment examinations be conducted credibly and transparently.” Many young participants have reportedly sustained injuries during the protests, yet they remain resolved to see their demands fulfilled.

Viswam urged party members and supporters to engage in the upcoming protests, emphasising that these actions will highlight the necessity for a fair examination process. He mentioned that demonstrations on July 27 are intended to coincide with ongoing efforts by youth leaders and student organisations campaigning for change.

Opposition Leader Joins Youth Protests

Pinarayi Vijayan, Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, recently joined a protest march led by the Student Federation of India (SFI). The march aimed to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and to call for acceptance of the federation’s demands. Addressing supporters in Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayan reportedly asserted that a “mafia” is involved in the NEET-UG examination paper leak controversy.

Vijayan also voiced criticism regarding actions taken by Delhi Police against demonstrators on July 20. He praised the SFI for participating actively in the protests occurring at Jantar Mantar, asserting that large-scale fraudulent activities have occurred surrounding the NEET examination, which sees participation from over 2.5 million students. He stressed the effort and dedication these students put into their preparations for the exam.

“The NEET examination scam is orchestrated by a criminal network. The details surrounding those responsible remain undisclosed, which raises concerns,” said Vijayan. He further condemned the police response to the protests, underscoring the importance of addressing such actions against the youth.

Government Responds to Concerns on Education

In light of the ongoing protests, Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated that the Central Government is committed to engaging in dialogue regarding the issues raised by the student-led movement. He mentioned that the government has made multiple formal invitations aimed at student representatives for discussions on the matter.

Singh affirmed that the government is ready to discuss all issues at the convenience of the young protesters, asserting that prestige should not obstruct resolving these concerns. He added, “The government has sent formal proposals for discussions with their representatives four times since yesterday.” This statement comes amid mounting pressures surrounding the integrity of recruitment examinations and demands for accountability.

The backdrop of these events highlights ongoing frustration among students and activists regarding educational policies in Kerala and the perceived limitations imposed by the central government. Allegations regarding deficiencies in the educational system and recruitment processes have led to widespread unrest, prompting calls for more transparency in government actions.
