Believing in Herself: Asara’s Unforgettable Year with OVEP

Asara, a Grade 8 student, loves drawing and craft, but stage fright often held her back. Despite learning Bharatanatyam, she never felt confident enough to perform. Academically too, she needed encouragement. Her parents, both graphic artists, wished she could showcase her talents more.

This changed when Asara took part in the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP). She contributed by designing posters, playing games, joining role plays, and organizing stalls.

With each activity, her creativity blossomed, and her teachers and classmates began to notice and appreciate her efforts. Their support boosted her confidence, and she also improved in her studies with help from peers.

The biggest moment came when Asara performed Bharatanatyam on stage for the first time.

Overwhelmed with joy, she shared with her class teacher that this had been an unforgettable year-one that helped her grow and believe in herself.

Through Reliance Foundation’s partnership with the International Olympic Committee, value-based learning rooted in the Olympic values is empowering young minds across India-fostering excellence, respect, and friendship for a brighter, more inclusive tomorrow.
