The CSR Journal Magazine

Advance ticket sales for Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film, ‘Ramayana: Rise of a Legend’, have reportedly surpassed Rs 10 crore in gross revenue as of 3 pm IST on October 24. The film is set to release just before Diwali, and the Hindi version is driving the majority of the demand. Additionally, the Kannada and Telugu versions are also witnessing a rise in bookings across India.

Maharashtra, Delhi, and Karnataka are currently leading in advance sales among Indian states. Major city markets such as the National Capital Region, Mumbai, and Bengaluru have emerged as the strongest contributors to these sales. As the release date approaches, more shows are expected to be added in the final week, following previous delays related to revenue-sharing agreements.

As of now, confirmed consumer bookings, excluding seats reserved by exhibitors, stand at Rs 7.98 crore, with approximately 1.81 lakh tickets sold across 4,352 tracked shows in 134 cities. The Hindi version has accounted for the majority of ticket sales, although the Kannada and Telugu versions are also gaining traction.

State and City Sales Breakdown

Maharashtra has generated Rs 2.31 crore, representing 23 per cent of the total advance gross. Following closely, Delhi has contributed Rs 2.13 crore, while Karnataka has added Rs 1.45 crore to the total. The top ten states combined account for 87 per cent of the advance sales.

In major city markets, the National Capital Region leads with Rs 2.13 crore from 27,177 tickets sold, reflecting a 7 per cent increase from the previous day. Mumbai follows with Rs 1.60 crore from 22,864 tickets, marking an 8 per cent rise. Bengaluru has seen the most significant growth, with sales surging by 173 per cent to Rs 1.20 crore from 18,147 tickets sold.

Hyderabad has recorded Rs 62.09 lakh from 16,705 tickets, an increase of 33 per cent, while Pune has contributed Rs 45.72 lakh from 6,452 tickets, reflecting an 8 per cent rise. The overall trend indicates a robust demand for the film across various regions.

Hindi Version Dominates Advance Sales

The Hindi version of Ramayana has reportedly collected Rs 8.91 crore, accounting for 88 per cent of total advance sales. The Kannada version follows as the largest contributor from the southern market, generating Rs 96.57 lakh, which represents 10 per cent of the total. The Telugu version has collected Rs 28.11 lakh, making up the remaining 3 per cent.

By Thursday night, advance bookings had surpassed 50,000 tickets across major cinema chains such as PVR INOX and Cinepolis. Premium formats like IMAX and 4DX are driving early sales, while standard multiplex screens are still building momentum. The current number of shows remains below that of other major releases, indicating potential for further growth.

Industry expectations suggest that the main surge in bookings will occur in the final week leading up to the release, starting around October 29. This period is anticipated to see full schedules and wider screen allocations as exhibitors resolve earlier delays related to revenue-sharing disputes.
