The Chief Minister of Telangana, A Revanth Reddy, extended an invitation to companies from Singapore to explore investment opportunities in the state. This invitation was issued during a meeting with a delegation from Singapore, led by Augustine Lee, the Permanent Secretary of the Energy Market Division within Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry. The meeting took place on September 16, at the Telangana Assembly.

During this engagement, the representatives from Singapore expressed a strong interest in establishing a semiconductor industry in Telangana. Chief Minister Reddy welcomed this initiative and assured the delegation that the state government is prepared to provide comprehensive support to facilitate their investment efforts.

Telangana’s Development Projects Discussed

In the course of the discussions, CM Reddy highlighted several significant development projects the state government has undertaken. He noted that there are numerous initiatives underway which could benefit from financial backing from international partners, such as the delegation from Singapore. The Chief Minister was keen to outline the potential for collaboration in various sectors.

The Singapore delegation received a positive response regarding the investment propositions put forth during the meeting. Additionally, CM Reddy extended an invitation to the representatives to participate in the upcoming ‘Telangana Global Summit’, which is scheduled to occur at the Bharat Future City in December.

An overview of the Musi River rejuvenation project was also provided. The Chief Minister discussed its first phase, which spans from the confluence of the Musi and Eesa rivers to Gandhi Sarovar, along with the initiative to promote a ‘night economy’ in the region. These ongoing efforts reflect the commitment to urban development in Telangana.

Bharat Future City and Educational Collaborations

CM Reddy elaborated on the ambitious plans for the ‘Bharat Future City’, highlighting its vision as a net-zero city. He emphasised the transformation of Hyderabad into a leading Knowledge Hub, moving beyond its traditional image as a tourist destination. This resulted in a focus on sustainable urban development in addition to economic growth.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister informed the Singapore delegation about collaborations with prominent international universities such as Harvard, Oxford, MIT, and the London School of Business. These partnerships aim to establish offshore campuses in Hyderabad, thus enhancing the educational framework and contributing to workforce development in the region.

Prominent figures present at the meeting included State Government Advisor K Ramakrishna Rao, South Asia Senior Director Dr. Francis Chong, and Consul-General William Chik, along with other representatives from Singapore. Their presence underscores the importance of this dialogue in fostering international relations and economic partnerships.
