Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has made serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the party is attempting to manipulate the electoral process in Telangana through a strategy called Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Reddy’s statements were made during a gathering of Congress workers and local leaders at his residence in Kodangal.

According to Reddy, the BJP has reportedly employed similar tactics in states like West Bengal, Bihar, and Maharashtra, aiming to target non-BJP-ruled areas. He accused the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of ostensibly supporting the BJP in this alleged endeavour to weaken the Congress party’s voter base ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for 2028.

Reddy’s claims surfaced shortly after the publication of the draft electoral roll on August 17, 2026. The document reportedly omitted 73.39 lakh names classified under the Absent, Shifted, Dead, or Duplicate (ASDD) category, while an additional 92.88 lakh electors were flagged for various discrepancies.

Concerns About Voter Integrity

Revanth Reddy emphasised the need for vigilance among Congress supporters, particularly focusing on disadvantaged groups such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and minority voters, who he alleged were being particularly targeted. He remarked that any attempt by the BJP to manipulate the electoral process would not be tolerated by the people of Telangana.

Reddy condemned the BJP’s alleged strategy of removing votes favouring Congress, asserting that the party was willing to resort to any means to secure electoral victories. He expressed particular concern that minor errors were being exploited as justification for disenfranchising impoverished voters.

In his address, Reddy also pointed fingers at central investigative agencies, namely the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), claiming that these entities have been used as tools to undermine political opponents during elections. This time, he alleged, the focus was on deleting voters’ names to further the BJP’s agenda.

Call to Action for Congress Workers

Reddy called upon Congress workers to remain vigilant and work closely with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to safeguard the integrity of the electoral rolls. He stressed that it is their responsibility to protect the right to vote and ensure that eligible voters are not unjustly removed.

In urging his party members to take action, Reddy emphasised that senior leaders have a crucial role in protecting the votes of the public. He directed mandal-level leaders to monitor the situation closely and take personal responsibility for the electoral integrity in their respective areas, particularly in four villages each.

In closing, Reddy reiterated the importance of remaining alert and proactive in countering what he termed the alleged conspiracy between the BJP and the BRS. He implored his colleagues to ensure that not a single vote is deleted from any booth, signalling the necessity of unity and vigilance in the face of perceived electoral threats.
