A 27-year-old man has been apprehended following a fatal road accident involving a delivery executive in West Delhi. The incident took place near the Subhash Nagar Metro red light on Najafgarh Road in the early hours of Saturday, according to local police.

Authorities received a call about the accident at approximately 3:26 am, prompting a swift response from the Tilak Nagar police station. Upon arrival, officers found both the vehicles involved in the crash at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Hem Shakar, a 25-year-old delivery executive employed by a quick-commerce company. He was riding an electric scooter at the time of the collision. Following the accident, he was transported to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Investigations Underway

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), West District, stated that initial investigations revealed eyewitness accounts indicating that a Hyundai Verna car struck Shakar’s e-scooter from behind. DCP further mentioned during a briefing that the information regarding the medical legal case (MLC) had been logged.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Mohit Kumar, aged 27, was quickly taken into custody after the accident. Kumar, a resident of Najafgarh and the son of Rajesh Kumar, is reportedly employed as a contractor with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

In the aftermath of the incident, police seized the vehicle involved in the crash. An FIR has been filed, and ongoing investigations will determine the next legal steps to be taken in this case.
