A Canadian national has reported an incident of alleged sexual harassment at a hotel in Bengaluru, prompting a police investigation. The complainant, a woman of Punjabi descent, indicated that she was subjected to unwanted behavior during a massage session at the hotel.
The hotel management has categorically denied these allegations, suggesting instead that the incident was part of a failed extortion attempt by the complainant. According to the incident report, the woman claimed that a massage therapist entered the room while she was changing, leaving her exposed and startled.
In her complaint, the Canadian citizen expressed dissatisfaction with the hotel’s initial response, stating that they did not take her concerns seriously. She alleged that the management attempted to resolve the matter discreetly by refunding INR 7,000 of the INR 10,000 she had paid for the massage service and urged her not to pursue the allegations further.
Complaint Lodged
After her grievances were unresolved, she took the matter to the Vidhana Soudha Police Station, where she officially lodged her complaint. Sources from the police department indicated that the woman was in Bengaluru for a scheduled musical performance at the time of the incident. They also noted a lack of clarity regarding her allegations.
A police official mentioned that following the incident, the woman allegedly sought a substantial amount of money as compensation. The hotel management reportedly declined this demand, leading her to file the police complaint. It was added that the woman canceled her scheduled concert in Bengaluru and left the city shortly after the alleged incident.
Authorities are currently investigating the case thoroughly, examining all angles to ascertain the facts surrounding the dispute. The situation continues to unfold as further details have yet to be revealed.
