Home Minister Amit Shah has unveiled a high-stakes “roadmap for transformation” for West Bengal, promising a sweeping overhaul of the state’s employment landscape and administrative benefits. Speaking at a massive Parivartan Yatra rally in Bhagabatipore, Shah declared that if the BJP is voted to power, the long-awaited 7th Pay Commission would be implemented for state employees within 45 days of government formation.
The announcement comes as a significant move to woo the state’s massive pool of government workers and unemployed youth, framing “financial justice” and “administrative transparency” as the pillars of the party’s campaign.
A Fast-Track Agenda for Jobs
Addressing a sea of supporters under the Raidighi Assembly constituency, the Home Minister centered his speech on the state’s economic stagnation. He committed to a concrete timeline for recruitment, stating that the process to fill all vacant government positions would officially commence by December 26.
To support job seekers who have aged out of eligibility due to recruitment delays, Shah announced a five-year age relaxation for government exams. “Our priority is to restore the dreams of Bengal’s youth and ensure that the years of lost opportunities are compensated through fair and transparent mechanisms,” Shah remarked.
Zero Tolerance for Corruption and Infiltration
Taking a sharp tone against the current administration, the Home Minister vowed a “clean-up” of the state’s political and legal systems. He emphasized that a BJP-led government would show zero tolerance toward the “mafia influence” and political patronage that he claimed has plagued the state’s law and order.
• Anti-Corruption Drive: Shah promised strict legal consequences for those involved in financial scams and the misuse of public funds, stating that no one, regardless of political stature, would be above the law.
• Border Security: Reaffirming the party’s stance on national security, he noted that illegal infiltrators would be identified and handled strictly under constitutional provisions.
A Call for “Decisive Change”
Invoking the spiritual legacy of Gangasagar and the historical bravery of Maharaja Pratapaditya, Shah framed the upcoming elections as a battle to restore Bengal’s “lost glory.” He argued that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state could shift from a culture of “syndicates” to one of “systemic growth.”
“This movement is not just about a change in power; it is about establishing a government that is accountable to its people, especially the mothers, sisters, and the hardworking youth of this soil,” Shah concluded.
