Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Calls April 14 Cabinet Meet Amid Resignation Buzz in Bihar

The CSR Journal Magazine

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has convened a significant Cabinet meeting set to take place on Tuesday, April 14. This meeting is anticipated to address several vital agenda items that will influence the state’s political landscape. Sources suggest that this may be the final gathering of the current Council of Ministers under Kumar’s leadership.

Speculation surrounding the meeting indicates that following its conclusion, Kumar may submit his resignation, initiating a potential transition in the state’s governance. It is reported that Bihar could soon see the appointment of a new Chief Minister the very next day, April 15.

Statements from Janata Dal (United) Leadership

During a recent interaction, Jha stated that the party contested the mandate with the support of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) under Kumar’s leadership, highlighting the importance of continuity in governance. He emphasised that Kumar’s influence would remain strong, even if he steps away from the chief ministerial role.

Furthermore, Jha mentioned that while Kumar may not hold the position of Chief Minister, he would continue to focus on Bihar’s development, maintaining his engagements primarily in Delhi for parliamentary sessions. This underlines the ongoing political strategy of the party as it prepares for future elections in the state.

Nitish Kumar’s Recent Political Transition

Nitish Kumar recently took the oath as a Rajya Sabha MP on April 10, achieving a personal goal to serve in all legislative houses across India. This transition into the upper house of Indian Parliament marks a significant milestone in his political career, which has seen him operate in various capacities within state and national governance.

As part of this political shift, Kumar resigned from his position in the Bihar Legislative Council after his election to the Rajya Sabha. His resignation was formalised by MLC Sanjay Gandhi, who submitted Kumar’s resignation to Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh.

Kumar has played a critical role in managing alliance politics which has significantly influenced the NDA’s governance in Bihar. His political manoeuvring will be pivotal in shaping the future direction of leadership in the state, especially with the upcoming changes in the administrative hierarchy.
