The price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has been raised by 5.46% on Tuesday, September 1. The adjustment, implemented by state-owned oil marketing companies, reflects changes in international benchmark prices. The current rate for ATF is Rs 121.28 per litre, marking an increase of Rs 6.28 from the previous rate of Rs 115 per litre.

This increase follows a prior adjustment on August 1, when the price rose by Rs 5 per litre. With this latest hike, ATF prices have experienced consecutive monthly increases, reflecting fluctuating global fuel costs.

Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Rise Across Major Cities

In addition to the rise in ATF prices, the cost of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders has also increased. The Indian Oil Corporation has implemented these changes from September 1, affecting various major cities in India. In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg cylinder has risen by approximately Rs 9.50, now costing Rs 2,747.50.

In Mumbai, the revised cost for the same cylinder is Rs 2,701, while in Chennai, it stands at Rs 2,916.50. Kolkata experienced the most significant rise among the cities mentioned, with an increase of Rs 11.50, bringing the price to Rs 2,884.

Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram recorded a Rs 10 increase each, resulting in prices of Rs 2,831 and Rs 2,784 respectively. Other cities like Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad saw their prices rise by Rs 11, leading to rates of Rs 2,919 and Rs 2,996 respectively. In Patna, the price exceeded Rs 3,000, now standing at Rs 3,029.

Domestic LPG Prices Remain Unchanged

In a development providing relief to households, the prices of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders have not been adjusted. This decision means that residential consumers will not face increased costs, maintaining current price levels for domestic cylinders.

The adjustments primarily affect commercial entities such as hotels and restaurants that utilise larger LPG cylinders. Moreover, the price for 5-kg FTL non-domestic LPG refills has risen by Rs 2, increasing from Rs 762 to Rs 764 with effect from September 1.

The recent hike in ATF prices adds to the financial burden already faced by domestic airlines as they grapple with rising operational costs, having recently seen significant price changes within a short timeframe.
