Apple has introduced its latest Mac mini and Mac Studio models in India, with prices commencing at Rs 99,900. The two new computers feature the latest Apple silicon chips, aimed at both everyday consumers and professionals. The Mac mini is available in M6 and M5 Pro configurations, while the Mac Studio offers M5 Max and M5 Ultra variants. These products are designed to enhance the Macintosh desktop experience with improved performance and connectivity.

The Mac mini featuring the M6 chip starts at Rs 99,900, while the M5 Pro variant is priced from Rs 2,09,900. On the other hand, the Mac Studio with the M5 Max starts at Rs 2,79,900, and the M5 Ultra model is available from Rs 6,29,900. For educational buyers, discounted prices are offered, with the Mac mini starting at Rs 88,900 for the M6 version and Rs 1,97,900 for the M5 Pro model.

The new desktops can be acquired through various channels, including Apple Store locations, the Apple Store online, the Apple Store app, and authorised resellers in India. Apple has also implemented incentives such as trade-in programmes, shopping and setup support, as well as skills-focused sessions through ‘Today at Apple’ events.

Performance Features of Mac Mini

The Mac mini is tailored for a diverse range of users, including students, developers, and creative professionals. The M6 chip in the Mac mini possesses a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, with Neural Accelerators integrated into each core. Additionally, it features a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. These specifications reportedly enhance AI performance by up to four times, double graphics and storage speeds, and improve CPU performance by 40 per cent compared to its predecessor.

The base model includes 16GB of unified memory, which can be configured to 32GB, offering memory bandwidth of up to 170 gigabytes per second. In contrast, the Mac mini with the M5 Pro chip caters to users with heavier computing needs, supporting up to an 18-core CPU, a 20-core GPU, and 64GB of unified memory, with a bandwidth of 307 gigabytes per second. Both versions come equipped with the latest connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and a 2.5Gb Ethernet port, with a 10Gb Ethernet option available.

Advanced Capabilities of Mac Studio

The Mac Studio is designed for professionals handling demanding tasks, such as motion graphics and real-time 3D work. The M5 Max version includes an 18-core CPU and can accommodate up to a 40-core GPU, along with Support for 128GB of unified memory. The M5 Ultra variant expands this capability further, offering up to a 36-core CPU and an 80-core GPU, plus 512GB of unified memory with a memory bandwidth of 1.2 terabytes per second.

Professionals can utilise the Mac Studio for intricate tasks, such as colour-grading high-resolution uncompressed 8K video and rendering complex visual effects. The Mac Studio, equipped with 512GB of unified memory, is set for release in late October. Both models offer Thunderbolt 5 connectivity with transfer speeds reaching up to 120 gigabytes per second and the ability to support multiple displays, including up to four Studio Display XDR units at full 5K resolution and 120Hz.

The new Macs operate on macOS 27 Golden Gate, which integrates Siri AI and several new Apple Intelligence features. Siri AI can leverage contextual information from various applications, answering questions and facilitating tasks across messages, emails, and photos. Users will also benefit from enhancements in Safari, automation through Shortcuts, and advanced tools for photo editing.
