Ex-IAS Officer Divya Mittal Launches Janniti Bharat Party for 2027 UP Elections

The CSR Journal Magazine

Divya Mittal, a former IAS officer, has officially launched her political party, Janniti Bharat, with plans to contest in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections scheduled for 2027. In an eight-minute video message shared on X, Mittal articulated her vision for a governance model that prioritises public involvement in policymaking and accountability. She emphasised that the core issue is not the absence of political parties but rather a lack of engagement with the populace.

Mittal, who resigned from her civil service role after a 13-year career, stated that her decision to form a new party stemmed from her belief that politics should empower citizens rather than dictate terms to them. She expressed her commitment to ensuring that the government operates in accordance with the people’s wishes, asserting that this engagement should not be limited to election periods but should be continuous.

Key Promises of Janniti Bharat

In her video address, Mittal outlined three primary promises of the Janniti Bharat Party. The first is to centre policymaking around the needs of the public, with citizens actively participating in identifying their requirements and experts providing solutions. She highlighted the sacrifices made by parents for their children as a reflection of the everyday experiences that should inform government policies.

Mittal argued that farmers and small traders possess valuable insights into the challenges they face, which should be considered in policy formulation. She emphasised that decisions must be made based on collective needs rather than individual identities, advocating for inclusivity across caste, religion, and social status. This approach aims to ensure that all voices are heard in the decision-making process.

As part of her second promise, Mittal mentioned the need for transparency in government decisions, particularly in infrastructure projects. She cited a recent instance where a road’s alignment was allegedly altered to benefit a select few, impacting numerous households. Her party aims to ensure that citizens can participate in decisions regarding public services, making the process more democratic.

Innovative Solutions and Community Engagement

Mittal’s third promise focuses on enhancing government transparency and accountability. She proposed the development of a mobile application that would allow citizens to report locations where women feel unsafe. This initiative aims to prioritise areas requiring better lighting and security measures, ensuring that safety concerns are addressed proactively rather than reactively.

Furthermore, Mittal outlined her vision for a transparent governance model where citizens can access detailed information about ongoing projects in their communities. This includes tracking the progress of infrastructure developments and public services, enabling residents to report issues such as inadequate medical supplies in hospitals or educational resources in schools. She asserted that this level of transparency would empower citizens to hold authorities accountable.

Before the launch of Janniti Bharat, Mittal received interest from various political parties, including the Samajwadi Party and the Congress, regarding her potential alignment with them. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav hinted at a possible collaboration, while Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai expressed openness to Mittal’s involvement in electoral politics. However, Mittal has chosen to establish her own party as she embarks on her political journey in Uttar Pradesh, which she regards as her karmabhoomi.
