A wedding celebration in Agra turned chaotic on Monday night when a dispute broke out between the families of the bride and groom. The altercation reportedly broke over the bride’s delayed arrival after her makeup session. The event, held at Lal Pyar Ki Dharamshala in the Khandoli area, began smoothly initially. However, it quickly descended into disorder once tempers of the groom’s family flared.

From Argument to Altercation

According to eyewitnesses, the groom’s family arrived at the venue on time. They grew impatient waiting for the bride, who was running late due to her makeup. What began as a verbal exchange between relatives soon escalated into a heated confrontation. Within minutes, sticks and wooden batons were hurled, and the wedding decorations were left in ruins. Guests scattered as panic spread across the hall, with women and children rushing for safety.

Panic at the Mandap

As the altercation intensified, the mandap’s decorations and equipment were damaged. The festive atmosphere quickly turned into chaos, forcing guests to flee. Several people sustained injuries in the scuffle, though none were reported to be serious. Local residents and community elders intervened to separate the warring sides and prevent further violence.

Police Step In

The Khandoli police soon arrived at the scene to restore order. Officers brought members of both families to the police station for discussions. For nearly two hours, officials mediated talks focusing on the reasons behind the dispute and the damages caused during the melee. Eventually, both sides agreed to a mutual settlement and decided not to pursue any legal action.

Peace Restored and Ceremony Resumes

Once calm was restored, the wedding rituals resumed as per traditional customs. The bride, whose father is a well-known jeweller in Agra, completed the ceremony with her groom later that night. By evening, the situation had normalized, and guests began dispersing from the venue.

Police confirmed that no formal complaint had been filed but assured that the matter remains under observation. Locals credited community elders and the police for their swift intervention, which prevented the situation from worsening. Despite the dramatic turn of events, the wedding ultimately concluded on a peaceful note, allowing the couple to begin their new life together.
