Actor Abhay Arora Discusses His Dual Role in Dhurandhar and Upcoming Ramayana

The CSR Journal Magazine

Abhay Arora, who portrayed Yasir in the film Dhurandhar, revealed that he had secured a role in the mythological film Ramayana prior to the release of Dhurandhar, which has become a notable two-part hit. In an exclusive conversation, Abhay elaborated on the complexities of managing simultaneous filming schedules for both projects.

He shared that he would typically conclude his shooting for Dhurandhar in Bangkok and then begin filming Ramayana with Ranbir Kapoor the following morning. Arora praised the professionalism and kindness of both leading actors, underscoring how significant it is to work with esteemed individuals in the industry.

Reflections on the Two Stars

When asked about the work ethic of Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor, Arora emphasized their commitment and professionalism. He highlighted that he observed both actors working intense hours, ranging from 15 to 16 hours a day, which showcases their dedication and endurance in the film industry. Arora remarked that while every actor has a different perspective and attitude, both Singh and Kapoor are exceptionally generous and approachable. He noted that sustaining a long presence in the industry is a testament to their hard work and resilience.

Challenges of Dual Roles

Regarding the physical demands of each project, Abhay stated that Dhurandhar posed a greater challenge in terms of physicality. He mentioned that balancing the contrasting roles—one as a gangster and the other in a mythological context—was a significant challenge faced by many actors. The disparity between the characters required a great deal of adaptability and skill.

Clarification on Propaganda Allegations

In response to claims that Dhurandhar functions as a propaganda film, Arora pointed out that differing opinions are natural in a country as vast as India. He expressed that the label of ‘propaganda’ should be properly understood, explaining that the film narrates stories based on real-life incidents, including significant events like demonetization and the 26/11 attacks. He emphasized that the film focuses on authentic storytelling rather than fictional narratives.

Commendation for Director Aditya Dhar

Abhay Arora commended director Aditya Dhar for his meticulous attention to detail and professionalism on set. He noted that Dhar was the second director he collaborated with after Nitesh Tiwari, although Dhurandhar reached theatres before his project with Tiwari. Arora appreciated Dhar’s approach to filmmaking and described him as an exceptional person to work alongside, highlighting the supportive environment he fosters for his cast.

A Heartfelt Experience with Ranveer Singh

On the topic of working with Ranveer Singh, Abhay expressed admiration for his warm nature and positive demeanor. He recounted a memorable moment of sharing coffee with Singh, noting that such gestures exemplify the camaraderie he fosters on set. Arora found working with Singh to be an outstanding experience, reflecting the collaborative spirit they shared during filming.

Current Status of Dhurandhar 2 and Ramayana

Dhurandhar 2 is currently performing strongly at the box office, having surpassed the global lifetime gross of its predecessor during its initial 11 days. The first installment, which debuted on December 5, 2025, amassed Rs 1,307.35 crore worldwide. In contrast, Dhurandhar 2 has already crossed Rs 1,360 crore in total earnings. Ramayana, the upcoming film, is set to be released in two parts, with the first installment scheduled for this year’s Diwali. This film features a diverse cast, including Ranbir Kapoor, Sunny Deol, Yash, and Sai Pallavi, among others.
