AAP Slams BJP Over Alleged Expired Protein Bars in Mid-Day Meals

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Haryana government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), of providing expired food items to children enrolled in the mid-day meal program. This accusation arises following an incident involving the distribution of protein bars that were past their expiry date at a government school in Palwal district.

Incident at Senior Secondary School in Chhaysa Village

The controversy erupted at a senior secondary school located in Chhaysa village, where chocolate milk protein bars, intended to be a protein supplement for students, were found to be expired. The wrappers revealed that these bars had expired in December 2025, yet they were allegedly handed out to students more than 45 days after this date.

Parental Concerns and Responses

School Authorities’ Actions

The situation became apparent when a parent identified the expiration date on the wrappers and brought it to the attention of the school authorities. Reports indicate that the expired items were subsequently removed from circulation. However, some wrappers with the December 2025 expiry date were reportedly still found on school premises, indicating that children may have consumed the protein bars prior to the action taken.

Call for Investigation

Abdul Karim, the head of the school’s monitoring committee, acknowledged the oversight regarding the distribution of expired items. He called for a thorough inquiry into the incident, stating that the matter requires further investigation. Concerns over the quality and safety of food provided under the mid-day meal scheme have been raised in the wake of this incident.
