Delhi-based NGO Wishes and Blessings organized a vaccination camp for underprivileged children in partnership with Medanta. Under this initiative, free of cost vaccinations were provided to EWS children falling in the age group of 15-18 years.
The medical team came equipped to administer over 150 Covid-19 vaccines to destitute children; however, the turnout was lower than expected. This vaccination camp had been set up inside the premises of Balwantray Mehta School at Greater Kailash II, Delhi on 21 January 2022. The drive was executed by a team of healthcare practitioners to ensure its smooth functioning. All the safety norms concerning the Covid-19 pandemic were strictly followed throughout this vaccination drive.
“We commend the efforts undertaken by the government to vaccinate children to protect them from the ongoing third wave of Covid-19 pandemic. Although we organized the vaccination camp for over 150 underprivileged children, the low turnout points at the prevailing resistance at the end of destitute and marginalized communities. This also proves that there is still a need for more awareness about Covid-19 vaccines amongst these vulnerable groups of people. Cent per cent vaccination is a collective responsibility. The road ahead is to work cooperatively to achieve this common dream. We are grateful that Medanta graciously agreed to partner with us for this cause,” says Dr. Geetanjali Chopra, Founder and President, Wishes and Blessings.
“At Medanta we have been supporting a ‘Vaccine for All’ initiative for several months, to bring vaccines to the doorsteps of vulnerable communities. Now the priority is to bring vaccines to the children. Medanta is privileged to support the children of Wishes and Blessings for this vaccination drive,” says Pankaj Sahni, CEO, Medanta.
“We are extremely grateful to Wishes and Blessings, as well as Medanta for conducting this free of cost vaccination camp for the children. Balwantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan is actually established for the underprivileged. On behalf of the school, the management, the entire staff and students, I once again express my heartfelt gratitude to both the organizations,” says Geeta Mallick, Senior Member, Inclusive Education and Administration, Balvantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan Anguridevi Shersingh Memorial Academy.
Through this vaccination campaign, Wishes and Blessings re-launched their Covid Relief Project under which the organization has been providing immediate and long term aid to the people in need since March 2020.
