BJP-Led Centre Provides Z Security to AAP’s Raghav Chadha

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Central government has recently granted Z-category security to Raghav Chadha, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP representing Punjab. This decision occurred on Wednesday, shortly after the Punjab government under AAP withdrew his existing Z+ security. The quick response from the Centre is indicative of rising tensions amid ongoing disagreements within the party.

In an effort to ensure Chadha’s safety, the Delhi Police has been directed to provide immediate protection until the Centre’s security arrangements are fully operational. This decision stems from a threat assessment conducted by the Intelligence Bureau, which highlighted the necessity for enhanced protective measures.

Controversy Surrounding Chadha’s Political Ties

Kakkar asserted that the only rationale for the Centre’s security provision is a potential understanding between Chadha and the BJP. Her comments were made during an interview with India Today, further amplifying the political discourse surrounding Chadha’s security and standing within AAP.

Amidst these developments, the Punjab government’s decision to withdraw Chadha’s Z+ security remains unexplained. However, sources suggest that it reflects widening rifts between Chadha and the AAP leadership. The decision followed Chadha’s recent removal as Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, prompting him to issue a video denouncing his party for allegedly attempting to silence him.

Speculation About Chadha’s Future in Politics

As the political situation evolves, speculation about Raghav Chadha’s future has intensified. Following his removal, multiple BJP leaders have publicly expressed support for him and criticised AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal. They have accused the AAP leader of marginalising colleagues after utilising their abilities for political gain. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva strongly denounced the restrictions on Chadha’s parliamentary participation.

Sachdeva described the limitations imposed on Chadha as “highly objectionable” and suggested that any decision Chadha makes regarding a potential move to the BJP is ultimately his choice. The security cover provided by the Centre has further stoked speculation regarding Chadha’s political trajectory.

While Chadha has not publicly announced his plans, there is growing buzz about the possibility of him establishing his own political party. This speculation gained momentum after he responded positively to a social media suggestion about forming a “Gen-Z party.” An Instagram user posited that Chadha’s popularity among younger voters could enable him to garner significant support through an independent political platform.
