50,000 Women Graduates To Receive Scooters Next Month: UP CM Yogi Adityanath

The CSR Journal Magazine

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared that next month, 50,000 distinguished women graduates from the 2025-26 academic session will be awarded petrol-powered scooters. This initiative is part of the state government’s Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Yojana, aimed at supporting female students in their educational pursuits. The announcement was made on Saturday, October 3, during a scholarship distribution event held in Lucknow.

Scholarship Transfer and Financial Support

At the event, Yogi Adityanath reported the transfer of over Rs 148 crore in scholarships and fee reimbursements into the bank accounts of more than 4.6 lakh students from Classes 9-10 and the post-matric category for the current financial year. He presented scholarship certificates to eleven students, emphasising the government’s commitment to educational financial support for various categories of students.

The Chief Minister highlighted the effectiveness of the direct benefit transfer (DBT) system initiated by the government, stating that there are sufficient funds available for students. He mentioned that under his administration, the scholarship process has become more transparent, contrasting it with previous practices during the Samajwadi Party’s rule. Adityanath claimed that previously, only 60 to 70 per cent of eligible students received scholarships, with funds often being misappropriated by clerical staff.

Yogi Adityanath explained that students used to spend more on commuting to access their scholarships than the amounts they received. However, he assured that the government has now ensured that funds are deposited directly into students’ bank accounts, increasing accessibility and efficiency.

Scope of Scholarship Distribution

He elaborated on the scale of scholarship disbursement over the past year, stating that Rs 2,750 crore was allocated to 26.26 lakh students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Furthermore, Rs 360 crore was distributed among 5.89 lakh students from minority communities. He also revealed that Rs 3,072 crore was provided to 37 lakh students from Backward Classes, while scholarships were extended to 9.40 lakh students from economically disadvantaged families.

Adityanath asserted that the government has established a timeline for scholarship distribution and that amounts would be transferred into students’ accounts promptly following the completion of the admission process. This approach aims to ensure that financial assistance reaches students without unnecessary delays.

In addition to scholarship distribution, the Chief Minister also addressed educational opportunities and competitive examinations in the state. He noted that students in Uttar Pradesh no longer have to travel to other states for preparation for competitive exams such as JEE and NEET. This shift is attributed to the Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Coaching scheme, which provides resources and coaching for these examinations within the state.

Yogi Adityanath stated, “Youth used to go to other states to prepare for JEE and NEET. Now, youth are benefiting from this through Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Coaching.” This reflects the government’s aim to enhance educational resources and opportunities for students in Uttar Pradesh, enabling them to pursue their aspirations more effectively.
