A 31-year-old software engineer was fatally assaulted by his wife’s relatives in an altercation that occurred in the Nihal Vihar area of Delhi. The victim, Vinay Gupta, has been identified as a resident of Laxmi Park. His family claims that the violent attack involved his wife and an estimated six to seven of her family members. The incident reportedly took place after a matrimonial dispute escalated on the morning of August 20.

According to family accounts, the confrontation arose during a domestic disagreement between Vinay Gupta and his wife. The situation intensified when his wife allegedly contacted her relatives, prompting them to visit the couple’s residence. Upon their arrival, they are said to have assaulted Gupta severely.

Gupta’s mother was reportedly outside the house at the time, arranging refreshments for the visitors. Upon returning, she discovered her son being attacked. She attempted to intervene, shouting for assistance and pleading with the assailants to cease their violence, but her efforts were reportedly unsuccessful.

Aftermath and Medical Response

Following the assault, Gupta was transported to a local hospital where he was declared dead due to the injuries sustained during the attack. His family has expressed deep sorrow and anger over the incident, noting that Vinay and his wife had been facing ongoing disputes regarding minor issues for some time. They had hoped to resolve their differences through discussions rather than escalating to such violence.

In light of the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, Gupta’s father has publicly condemned the actions of his son’s in-laws. The family alleges that the attack was not spontaneous but premeditated, as they claim the wife’s relatives arrived with the intent to harm.

The police are currently conducting an investigation into the matter. A forensic team has been deployed to the scene to gather evidence that may assist in understanding the events that transpired. Authorities have indicated that they are taking the allegations seriously and are committed to uncovering the truth behind the incident.

The police have identified and detained four individuals who are believed to have been involved in the attack. A case has been initiated under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
