30-Year-Old Indian Man Dies in US Amid Visa Struggles

The CSR Journal Magazine

A fundraiser has been initiated for Sasikanth Reddy Donthireddy, a 30-year-old Indian citizen who passed away in the United States following a cardiac arrest. According to the campaign, Reddy experienced significant stress resulting from his repeated failures to secure an H-1B visa. The fundraiser aims to raise funds for sending his body back to India. Sasikanth relocated to the US in 2018 to pursue higher education, successfully obtaining dual master’s degrees. However, despite applying multiple times, he was never selected in the H-1B visa lottery, a situation that reportedly took a toll on his mental well-being.

Impact of H-1B Visa Uncertainty

The appeal for funds highlights the pressures faced by many Indians living in the US who are unable to secure desirable employment due to visa limitations. Sasikanth was described as highly qualified yet unable to find stability in his career, which compelled him to work extended hours. The campaign noted that the difficulties he encountered regarding his visa status contributed to a heightened level of stress, particularly over the last few months of his life.

Final Days and Passing

On the morning of February 16th, Sasikanth began experiencing severe chest pain and was promptly taken to a hospital. Unfortunately, he could not be revived. His death has been deeply felt by his family, who had not seen him since he moved abroad nearly eight years ago. The family had anticipated welcoming him back with pride and excitement, yet instead face the painful task of arranging for his final rites.

Support for Grieving Family

In addition to their emotional loss, Sasikanth’s parents are grappling with significant financial challenges related to the transportation of his remains and the cost of funeral arrangements. The fundraiser has called for assistance to help alleviate their burden during this difficult time, emphasizing the pressing need for support to repatriate Sasikanth’s body and provide for his grieving family. Upon receiving support, they hope to honor their son’s memory and carry out his final rites as per tradition.
