A robbery executed by the infamous Gala Ghotu Gang has gained widespread attention after CCTV footage from the Maujpur area of North East Delhi went viral on social media. The incident took place in the early hours of February 10, around 1:00 AM, when a young man was making his way home after work. As he traversed a secluded stretch of road, he was approached by three individuals who had been lying in wait.
Footage Shows Violent Encounter
The captured video illustrates a shocking scene where the gang members attacked the victim from behind, choking him before throwing him to the ground. While he struggled to regain control, the accomplices swiftly searched his belongings. In this brazen act, they managed to steal ₹2,500 in cash along with a bag, fleeing the scene shortly thereafter.
Previous Incidents Linked to the Gang
The Gala Ghotu Gang has been involved in various criminal activities over an extended period. Notably, on August 27 of the previous year, law enforcement authorities arrested two members of this gang following a brief encounter. These individuals were implicated in a robbery case, and during the arrest, police recovered a country-made pistol, an empty cartridge, a live cartridge, and a mobile phone reported stolen by a victim.
Details of a Prior Robbery Case
According to statements from DCP North-West Bhisham Singh, a complainant had reported an earlier incident on August 25, 2025. The victim recounted that while returning home to Malka Ganj from Rohini on his motorcycle, he stopped near Prembari Pul at around 12:06 AM to attend to personal needs. After parking his motorcycle securely, he was surprised by two individuals who approached him from behind. One suspect restrained him, forcefully pushing him to the ground, while the other stole his belongings.
Robbery Details Reported
The victim was robbed of their mobile phone and a purse that contained ₹15,000 in cash, along with vital identity documents such as an Aadhaar card, ATM card, PAN card, and the motorcycle’s registration certificate. The robbers also snatched a gold ring off the victim’s finger before making their escape from the scene.
