Actor Vikrant Massey has responded to circulating rumors regarding his potential role in the upcoming two-part film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Speculation intensified earlier this week when reports surfaced claiming he had been replaced by Raghav Juyal for a pivotal character in the film.
In a statement posted on his Instagram Stories, Massey explicitly denied ever being part of the project. He stated, “To put the rumours to rest. I never was a part of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.” He expressed disappointment over the media coverage that suggested he had lost a role, adding, “The many media portals reporting about my supposed ‘replacement’ should’ve done the requisite background check. Disappointing. Nonetheless, wishing everyone a part of the movie all the very best. Love.” This post was later removed without any explanation from Massey.
Background of the Controversy
The uproar stemmed from a report by a prominent media outlet, which mentioned that Raghav Juyal has been cast as Meghanad, the eldest son of Ravana, in Ramayana: Part 2. The report suggested that the role was initially associated with Massey but that a change had been made in casting decisions, leading to Juyal being approached instead. A source cited in the report noted, “The role was initially supposed to be played by Vikrant Massey, but things apparently didn’t work out. Raghav was subsequently approached, and he immediately came on board.”
In light of the speculation, Massey clarified his stance, asserting that he had never had any official connection to the film at any point. The removal of his post came as the conversation continued to gain traction across various platforms.
