The CSR Journal Magazine

A fire occurred on the set of actor Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film ‘Ramayana’ in Mumbai, as confirmed by BN Tiwari, President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). Tiwari reported that the fire was minor and did not result in any injuries. The incident took place on the studio grounds, specifically in one of the tents situated outside the main shooting area. Emergency response teams were able to bring the situation under control swiftly, preventing the fire from spreading further.

Safety Measures and Prior Warnings

Following a previous fire incident at a nearby location, Tiwari highlighted that the producers had been urged to adopt stricter safety protocols. This warning came just days before the recent event. Tiwari stated that despite these warnings, carelessness led to the fire on the ‘Ramayana’ set. Fortunately, the damage was minimal, and all personnel present were unharmed.

He stressed that this incident should serve as a lesson for filmmakers to enhance their safety measures to prevent future occurrences. In addition to ‘Ramayana’, other productions such as the television shows ‘Hustle’ and ‘Pati Patni Panga’ are currently in production at Prime Focus Studios, where the fire incident took place.

Tiwari mentioned that adequate precautions should be taken by all film crews working in the area. This incident underscores the importance of maintaining safety standards on film sets, especially in light of recent events. After addressing the initial panic, filming for ‘Ramayana’ was able to resume without significant disruption. The swift response and effective containment of the fire have been praised by the production team, who are committed to ensuring the safety of their crew and cast members.

Film Release Plans Announced Amidst Incident

Despite the fire breaking out, the film’s production team has made an announcement regarding the film’s release. They revealed the subtitle for the first instalment, titled ‘Ramayana: Rise of a Legend.’ A new poster was released, indicating that the film is set to premiere in theatres globally on November 6, available in both Hindi and English.

The poster features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as Ravana, depicted against a cosmic backdrop, along with the tagline “Mankind’s greatest story comes to life.” The filmmakers aim to provide an immersive viewing experience for audiences, with plans for the film to be screened in standard theatres, IMAX, and Premium Large Formats.  This ambitious project is helmed by director Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra.

It features a star-studded cast that includes Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Ravie Dubey as Laxman, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Arun Govil as King Dashrath, and Rakul Preet Singh as Suparnakha. As the release date approaches, the production team is focusing on ensuring a successful launch for ‘Ramayana’, while also addressing any safety concerns highlighted by the recent incident. The commitment to both the safety of the team and the quality of the production remains paramount as they move forward.
