Vice President CP Radhakrishnan is set to embark on a tour of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh from September 6 to 9. This trip includes a variety of academic, cultural, and public engagements, alongside visits to significant historical and social institutions, according to a statement from the Vice President’s Secretariat.

On September 6, the Vice President will arrive in Guwahati, Assam. One of the highlights of his visit to the city will be attending the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Geetanagar College, which was previously known as Kanya Mahavidyalaya. Following this event, he will participate in the Convocation Ceremony for the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS) in Guwahati.

The schedule will continue on September 7, with the Vice President attending a foundation stone laying ceremony at Gauhati University. He is expected to engage in discussions with students, faculty members, and prominent local citizens at the University’s Convention Centre. After this interaction, he will travel to Shillong, Meghalaya, to partake in a public reception and cultural event at the Soso Tham Auditorium.

Events in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh

On September 8, Vice President Radhakrishnan will head to Imphal, Manipur, where he plans to visit the INA Museum and War Memorial located at Moirang, along with the Sainik School Imphal. Following his engagements in Manipur, the Vice President will proceed to Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, for the remaining events of his itinerary.

The following day, September 9, will see the Vice President attending a special session of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He is also expected to visit the Assembly Gallery-cum-Museum and will meet students at various educational institutions, including the Donyi Polo Mission School, which caters to the hearing and visually impaired, as well as the Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum in Itanagar.

Throughout these visits, Radhakrishnan aims to connect with local communities and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the regions. Each event has been structured to foster interaction and exchange of ideas among students, faculty, and community leaders.

Recent Engagements in Chandigarh

Prior to his ongoing tour, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan visited Panjab University in Chandigarh on September 5. During this visit, he inaugurated the Advanced Instrumentation Facility at the Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility/Central Instrumentation Laboratories (SAIF/CIL), which is a key resource for research and innovation at the university.

He also initiated the Panjab University Tech Innovation Forum (PU-TIF), aimed at supporting academic and practical research through advanced analytical instruments and entrepreneurial resources. These initiatives represent crucial advancements in the university’s commitment to fostering research, incubation, and collaboration between academia and industry.

While addressing attendees at Panjab University, Radhakrishnan reflected on the institution’s rich legacy since its founding in 1882 and emphasised its role in shaping generations of public servants, scientists, jurists, and sportspersons, thereby contributing significantly to the nation’s progress.
