UPSC Civil Services Mains Examination 2026 Set to Begin Tomorrow

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is preparing to conduct the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026 from August 21 to August 23 and again from August 29 to August 30. Candidates are required to adhere closely to the guidelines issued by the Commission and ensure they possess the necessary documents when arriving at their respective examination centres. Notably, the Essay paper will be held on August 21, while General Studies papers are scheduled for August 22 and 23. Additionally, papers for Indian Language, English, and Optional Subjects will take place on August 29 and 30.

Admit cards for the Civil Services Mains 2026 examination were released on August 15, 2026. Candidates are encouraged to reach their examination centres well in advance to avoid any last-minute issues. Registration of candidates will begin at the time specified in the e-Admit Card, which must also be presented at the venue.

Guidelines for Candidates

It has been outlined that each candidate must provide two recent passport-sized photographs for each session of the examination. In cases where the candidate fails to authenticate their identity correctly or does not bring the original ID proof as indicated on the e-Admit Card, they may need to complete an undertaking provided by the venue supervisor. This is to ensure compliance with the verification requirements set by the UPSC.

Furthermore, if discrepancies in face authentication occur, candidates may have to affix their photograph to the aforementioned undertaking directly at the examination venue. This process is crucial for ensuring that all candidates are properly identified during the examination.

It is essential for candidates to be aware of these requirements to avoid potential complications on the day of the exam. Ensuring that all requested documents and photographs are readily available will facilitate a smooth examination experience.

Post-Examination Procedures

Once the examination concludes, UPSC will introduce the Question Paper Representation Portal (QPReP) on its official website. This platform will allow candidates to submit representations regarding any questions or issues concerning the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026. The portal will be accessible for five days following the exams, specifically from August 31 to September 4, 2026.

Candidates are encouraged to use this opportunity should they find any discrepancies in the question papers or wish to clarify any concerns. The initiative aims to maintain transparency in the examination process and enable candidates to voice their queries effectively.

Moreover, candidates must continue to adhere to any remaining examination instructions provided by UPSC to ensure a smooth experience throughout the assessment period. It is advisable to stay informed through official notices and updates issued by the Commission.
