A 25-year-old woman was reportedly strangled to death by her boyfriend following a dispute regarding marriage in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday. The victim has been identified as Samreen, who was employed at a local call centre. The accused, Firoz, is said to have been in a long-term relationship with her.

On the morning of the incident, Samreen’s younger brother dropped her off at her workplace. After her shift, she met Firoz in the Shatabdi Nagar forest area, where the argument over marriage allegedly escalated. Reports indicate that Samreen had been pressuring Firoz to formalise their relationship, leading to heightened tensions between the two.

During the confrontation, it is alleged that Firoz strangled Samreen. Following the incident, he reportedly contacted the police himself and confessed to the crime, providing them with the location where the body could be found.

Upon receiving the call around 10 am, a team from Meerut Police promptly arrived at the scene. They took Firoz into custody and recovered his motorcycle, which was found near the crime scene.
